Are you worried about how to disassemble a NordicTrack treadmill? I have encountered this problem before. A friend of mine Mike wanted to borrow the Nordictrack Treadmill t6.5s from my home for exercise, and I readily agreed. But when I tried to disassemble it, it really gave me a headache. After all, its interior contains a lot of functions, facilities and technology. I don’t want to damage such an expensive fitness equipment because of some of my operating errors.
After referring to the operation methods of many posts on the Internet, and combining my own actual experience, this article is my personal experience on how to disassemble a NordicTrack treadmill. I believe the operation steps are the simplest and most effective, so you will not spend too much energy to complete the disassembly independently.

3 Steps to Disassemble NordicTrack Treadmill
Before disassembling a NordicTrack treadmill, you should first make sure that the power source of your NordicTrack treadmill is disconnected. This process is the most critical, because it not only helps protect you from electric shock, but also helps you safely remove other critical parts without damaging them.
In my personal experience, the most complicated part of a treadmill is actually the console. If you can properly separate the console from the treadmill, I have to say that you have completed 80% of the disassembly work. In addition, if your NordicTrack treadmill was purchased and assembled by you yourself, when you want to disassemble it, you will use the assembly tools included in the box again. Because, to put it bluntly, the disassembly work is to reverse the assembly work.
Step 1: Remove Left and Right Handrails
This step is the easiest because there are no wires inside the left and right handreails, only a few bolt screws. Although the left and right armrests do not affect you to remove the console, all the screws are behind the control panel. If you want to move the NordicTrack treadmill to other places, the handrails on both sides will increase the overall width of the treadmill, and you may not be able to pass through narrow room doors.
Therefore, first removing the large armrest will help you concentrate on disassembling the most complicated part-the console.
Step 2: Detach the Console
Although I said that detaching the console is the core step of disassembling a NordicTrack treadmill. But in fact, you should not imagine it too difficult, otherwise you may not have the confidence to complete it independently. Specifically, it can be divided into 3 simple steps:
Remove the screws attaching the back of the console base
There are many screws on the back of the console. You must remove these screws before you can see the circuit board and wires inside.
Disconnect the console connectors
After removing the screws on the back of the console, you can remove the panel and all the wires inside are clearly visible. You will find that the wires here are much more complicated than the wires of the motor part at the bottom of the treadmill, because this part controls everything from speed to inclination features. When upgrading functions, high-end treadmills will always focus on the console.
There are two wires you need to disconnect, one is the console wire, and it is a two-piece wire located near the handrail. The other is the ground wire, which is a very thin wire in the middle of the console. You only need to gently pull the two lines apart.
Detach the console completely from the panel
After disconnecting all the important wires on the console, you can use a Phillips screwdriver to completely remove the front panel of the console. as the picture shows below.
Step 3: Fold Treadmill or Remove the Upright
Congratulations! When you have completed the disassembly of the console, you have completed the most critical part of the entire disassembly process, and you will no longer have to face complicated and messy wires for the next work. This is because not only the NordicTrack treadmill, but also the motor part at the bottom of almost all foldable treadmills are non-removable. The entire base, running belt and console parts are independent and cannot be disassembled and transported separately.
Therefore, in order to facilitate transportation, the only thing you can do is to fold the entire treadmill to reduce the volume of the entire object. Fortunately, most NordicTrack treadmills are designed for home use and are foldable. If it is a non-foldable model, you need to remove each upright connecting the base and the console. This is too simple, you can easily complete it alone.
Finally, please make sure that every part you remove from the entire treadmill is put in one place and don’t throw away randomly. Otherwise, you may not be able to reassemble it.
In short, as one of the best treadmills on the market, the NordicTrack treadmill has fine workmanship and complex internal structure. If you don’t have the experience of assembling separately, you will be at a loss when you want to disassemble a NordicTrack treadmill from scratch. Because you are afraid of damaging the treasure you bought for $1000 because of one of your operational errors.
But in fact, it is not as difficult as you think. You only need to remember three steps:
- Remove the handrails
- Detach the console
- Fold the treadmill or remove the upright
The most complicated part is actually only the second step, but you only need to pay attention to two wires. For the rest, you only need to carefully collect every screw you have unscrewed and make sure that you can reassemble it back.
